Everytime i have my blood pressure taken the nurse smiles and says very good, but i think i have bad circulation in my legs. they fall asleep often, bruises last for months and the get red and blotchy. My whole body is always cold. sometimes even in the summer i will be cold. is this a serious issue?
I am 25 years old. these bruises are not mysterious.. i know how they got there, the concern is that they take so long to go away. i have no other issues with my health and no vericose veins

It is definitely possible to have an optimal blood pressure and still have poor peripheral circulation. I guess you need to get your blood sugars and thyroid profile checked and you probably would merit an arterial/venous doppler of your legs as well to look for evidence of arterial/venous insufficiency.

I was just wondering what do the top and bottom numbers on a blood pressure mean?

Please see the web pages for more details on Blood pressure. The normal blood pressure is less than 120/80 mm Hg.(mm Hg stands for height of mercurial pressure in millimeter) 120 means systolic pressure i.e., the pressure in the arteries when the heart contracts. 80 means diastolic pressure in the arteries when the heart rests in between the pulses.
The systolic pressure is defined as the peak pressure in the arteries, which occurs near the beginning of the cardiac cycle; the diastolic pressure is the lowest pressure (at the resting phase of the cardiac cycle).

I get mine at the doctors office

I am just curious because I am currently being monitored for HBP and I asked my doctor about symptoms because every where I look it is called the "silent killer", yet some ppl say nosebleeds, floaters, dizziness, lightedness etc can be symptoms. What has anyone else experienced as symptoms of HBP.

I was diagnosed with HBP last year.
Silent-Killer, yes it can be!!
I have no nosebleeds.
I do have dizziness, lightheadness, & I feel very sick after taking my HBP medicane.
If you are on HBP medicane, make sure that you eat {no salt though}, because that will make your HBP go higher, and that’s not good!!!

Please see a Doctor ASAP!!!

I can not afford to go to the doctor right now. So is there any at home I can take? for my High Blood Pressure?

A change is diet and lifestyle is often more effective than medication. There are many things you can do-

Supplements:
Garlic, Calcium, Magnesium, L Carnitine, L glutamic acid, L glutamine, Selenium, Co Q10, EFAs (flaxseed oil) Vitamin C, Lecithin granules and Vitamin E.

A strict salt-free diet is essential, and animal fats (meat and dairy) should be avoided. Broiled white fish and skinless chicken may be consumed in moderation only. Primary protein sources should be from vegetables, grains and legumes.
Be sure to eat deep green vegetables, bananas, oranges, dried peas and beans.

Avoid all alcohol, caffeine and tobacco.

Fast for three days each month to periodically cleanse and detoxify the body.

Get regular exercise, and keep your weight down.

My mom is in the hospital. Some of her symptoms include:
-Kidney Failure
-HIGH blood pressure
-Severe Pain
-Confusion
-Shakiness

I wouls really like it if someone could answer this question… Thank you.

the one thing that comes to mind is sepsis, which is when an infection gets into the bloodstream. this can happen with pretty much any type of infection. i had this twice, from a kidney infection. all the same symptoms except my blood pressure plummeted to extremely low levels, but some people to get very high blood pressure from this.

I have high blood pressure and I am slightly overweight. I want to use artificial sweetener especially to sweeten my tea in order to minimise calorie intake. Sodium is not good for high blood pressure. Artificial sweetener contain sodium. Is an artificial sweetener really harmful to my blood pressure?

There is not enough in them to make any appreciable difference either way. I applaud your attempt to lose weight, which may make control easier, but you will need to make many more dietary changes and take some vigorous exercise as as well in order to make any really useful contribution.

I’m pretty sure mine is 130 over 84, is that good, average, etc.? Just a quick explanation would help. How can you tell if a number is good?

What’s your age? The text-book "normal" is 120/80, and that is lower for children/teens and higher for middle-aged/elderly. Lots of people have "white coat hypertension" which just means that their BP goes up because they get nervous around drs/nurses, so yours may actually be a little lower normally. If you are at least in your 20’s, in good health, have a good weight, it’s probably fine for you.

BTW, the top number or "systolic" pressure is the pressure exerted on the artery walls during the contraction of the heart. The bottom or "diastolic" pressure is the pressure on the artery walls when the heart is at rest.

Hope this helps. See your doctor with any questions.

pain is really awful

Consult your physician with regards to what to do about your brain tumor. There are so many different kinds that I don’t feel comfortable trying to answer.

For both your heart and your bloodpressure your going to want to do the following:

Lose weight.
Change your diet to eliminate salty and sugary foods.
Research medicines to lower blood pressure but be careful of the side effects.
Excercise.

Beyond that I don’t know. You should have some powerful pain killers available to you by perscription. Meditation might also the something you’ll want to look into for pain management. Also if your able to make the above lifestyle changes you should start to feel a little better.

Wishing you the best,

Armus

I heard that blood gets thick when u do walk and running and it causes high blood pressure specially in winter is it true or no/.?? I m asking that because i have problem of high blood pressure .

No, the opposite. Your blood gets thin when it’s well circulated and people who work out regularly (like me) have normal blood pressure, sometimes low following exercise. I know because I donate plasma, so my blood pressure is taken twice a week.
