I’m also trying raw garlic. I would just like to know if anyone has experience on what other fruits and vegetables are good for lowering blood pressure. Thanks.
I recently read that increasing your potassium intake can have as much effect as lowering your salt intake on BP. (eat more bananas and white potatoes and less salt)
Are correlations of blood pressure and causes of death studied and if so where are reports?
The guidelines are especially important because high blood pressure is very common — it affects 1 in 4 adults in the US — and it is a pivotal factor predisposing to common chronic diseases. High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease. High blood pressure is the chief risk factor for stroke and heart failure. And high blood pressure often causes kidney disease.
The treatment of high blood pressure aims to lower the blood pressure to less than 140 mm Hg systolic and less than 90 mm Hg diastolic for most persons with hypertension. Treatment should lower blood pressure to less than 130 systolic and less than 80 diastolic for people with diabetes or chronic kidney disease.
The systolic pressure is the pressure in the artery when the heart contracts. The diastolic pressure is the pressure in the artery when the heart relaxes. The tone (tension) in the artery influences the levels of both the systolic and diastolic blood pressures. Flexible arteries with normal tone lead to lower blood pressures. Stiff arteries have higher blood pressures.
Can someone help me make sense of blood pressure numbers.
My resting blood pressure … on a day I feel fine is 116/74. Though, I’ve found that when I get very .. um.. listless… lack of engery… it drops to 106/72.
I’m 26, about 5′7" and not really going to tell you my weight other than I’m not super skinny but also not "OMG huge"….
Are these numbers considered normal for me… or should I be seeing my doctor. My mom says my blood pressure is low, but 120 is an average number right… how does 116 compair?
All of the blood pressure readings that you are getting are perfectly normal. Not too high. Not low.
I’m looking for an alternative from doctor precribed medication.
Raised blood pressure is not a disease in itself. It is just a sign of some underlying disorder. Homeopathy offers good prognosis for cases of essential hypertension. The treatment is based upon the cause and the totality of the case.

Lifestyle changes may help control high blood pressure:
Lose weight if you are overweight. Excess weight adds to strain on the heart. In some cases, weight loss may be the only treatment needed. Exercise to help your heart. Adjust your diet as needed. Decrease fat and sodium — salt, MSG, and baking soda all contain sodium. Increase fruits, vegetables, and fiber.
Take Care and God Bless !
Does anybody know any good home rememdies for High Blood Pressure?
First of all, get to a Dr. asap. Second, cut out the salt and most of the caffeine, and follow the diet the Dr. advises. Get exercise–walking is great. If the doc prescribes meds, TAKE THEM! If you are stressed, try to get some help to deal with it. Hypertension is called "the silent killer" because a person often does not know they are suffering from it. By the time you have a stroke or a heart attack it may be too late. With on going high blood pressure you need to be under a Dr’s care. Monitor your blood pressure at home, but always keep in touch with your physician.
I’ve been having problems with my blood pressure for about 5 years now, and after my last checkup the doc insists that i lower it. She said it is way too high for my age (30) and I am at great risk so I am wandering what are some good suggestions for helping to lower it.
man I’m just like you bro, I’m 29 and have been having high bp for about 5 years they put me on medicine which lowered my bp but the side effects were to harsh, what i did was examine my diet to see what was causing the hbp, i noticed i drank alot of caffeine and alcohol, I cut both and my bp is 135/77 which is still a bit high but not enough to be on meds.. examine your diet, cut caffeine, alcohol, reduce stress, watch the salt.. good luck
I have been dizzy and have seen stars yesterday I am wondering if my high blood pressure came back. I am also on 3 types of medication. Celexa, cephalaxon and menora…any one know of any side effects of mixing the drugs??
Can’t give you the symptom’s but I can give you a cause… my boss. (Actually – check out Mayoclinic.com – quote: Signs and symptoms
Most people with high blood pressure have no signs or symptoms, even if blood pressure readings reach dangerously high levels.
Although a few people with early-stage high blood pressure may have dull headaches, dizzy spells or a few more nosebleeds than normal, these signs and symptoms typically don’t occur until high blood pressure has reached an advanced — possibly life-threatening — stage.)
There are different main artery’s out of the heart doing blood pressure checks in each limb of the human body can give a better over all pressure check diagnosis on a of heart condition and preventive maintenence after a work out.Taking blood pressure in one arm can give a general pressure check, but I think by flow charting blood pressure in this method could stand the test of time, for a better method..Do the numbers it’s smart.
Hmmm. I’m not sure what your question is. In our office, we usually feel it’s adequate to check the blood pressure in each arm, unless we have a clinical suspicion that a certain diagnosis, such as coarctation of the aorta, should be entertained. I’m not sure what you are getting at here. . .
I am 20 week pregnant and this morning the nurse told me that I have high blood pressure and she asked me why and I could not give her an answere cause I have no Idea what causes high blood pressure. I also have never actually had a blood pressure problem? So is it bad to have high BP? Please Im desprate to know?
That is really a stupid question for a nurse to ask, she should know she was the one that studied to become a nurse..
In 90–95 percent of cases, scientists don’t know what causes high blood pressure. This is essential hypertension. Fortunately, although scientists don’t fully understand the causes of this disease, they’ve developed both non-drug and drug treatments that treat it effectively. They’ve also identified some factors that contribute to higher blood pressure. These are arteriosclerosis (or hardening of the arteries), thickening or hypertrophy of the artery wall, and excess contraction of the arterioles (small arteries).
In the remaining cases, high blood pressure results from a recognizable underlying problem. This is called secondary hypertension. Some possible causes are a kidney abnormality, tumor of the adrenal gland or congenital defect of the aorta. When the root cause is corrected, blood pressure usually returns to normal.
I’d like to know what are the symptoms to High Blood Pressure and Low Blood Pressure.
One of the symptoms of high blood pressure is dizziness. One of the symptoms for low blood pressure is that of being very cold.
I would also recommend checking with your doctor to see what they say.
For even more information I have the link to a site that may help til you can get a hold of the doctor. It’s at: http://www.WebMD.com
