Interestingly, while most medical professionals agree on the what would signify hypertension (high blood pressure), the situation is much less clear for hypotension (low blood pressure). As stated earlier, 120/80 is "ideal." However, what is normal is actually a range of blood pressures, and that they can vary a lot during a short amount of time (try checking your BP after you exercise or have an argument).

Many doctors would agree that a systolic BP<90 or diastolic BP < 50 is low, but it must be taken in context. Being female, petite, and thin are associated with having a lower BP. If your BP is constantly around that range, then it may be completely normal!

However, if you notice that your normal BP is usually much higher, first double check that the BP machine/cuff is working properly. If your low BP persists, or you start to feel lightheaded, dizzy, faint, short of breath, palpitations or chest discomfort, seek medical attention.
References :
This is low blood pressure, but I don't think you need to be too alarmed yet! I'm in nursing school and a lady in my program always has low blood pressure too! She's about 26 years old and hers is usually around 90/50ish. close to yours! she's gotten checked out and she's fine. Some people may just have lower blood pressure than others.
References :
With respect to the nurse. Because I am one as well the new official BP is 115/70. The higher number is called the systolic that is the force that your heart is putting on your veins when it pumps. The lower number is called diastolic The diastolic pressure is specifically the minimum arterial pressure during relaxation and dilatation of the ventricles of the heart when the ventricles fill with blood. depending on your age it sounds like yours is low. Go and see your Doctor and bring that up.
References :
87 is the systolic (the pressure in your arteries when your heart is contracting) and 44 is the diastolic (the pressure in your arteries when your heart is relaxed and refilling with blood). You have a very low blood pressure. You might want to get checked out by your physician.
References :
Very low blood pressure. The average is 120/80. It depends on what is your baseline average. But you should call your doctor and let him know and see what he wants you to do. Good Luck!
References :
Nurse Tech ER
