The top number is the systolic reading, and the bottom is the diastolic. When the heart is squeezing down, and forcing blood through your body, that high pressure will give you the systolic reading in your arteries. When the heart is relaxing and refilling with blood, the diastolic is the low pressure in your arteries at that time.
