I’m not sure there are common symptons… Thats why its called the silent killer… Why dont you try using one of those do it yourself sit down blood pressure machines that they have in a pharmacy or a wal mart.. High BP is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. It is easily treatable if you have it.

It is considered the silent killer. If mine gets extremely high–I will have a very bad frontal headache. Otherwise–no signs of anything. If you have a regular doctor–his nurse will do a bp check for free.

The most common symptoms of hypertension are:
    – headache – the sensation that your head will blow, it is caused by the elevated blood pressure causing a high pressure for the liquor (rahidian liquid)
    – blurred vision – hypertension increases the intraocular pressure and the patients has optical disorders. in chronic hypertension glaucoma (increased intraocular pressure) appears
    – strange feelings and deaf sounds in the ears. the chronic sufferes which treat hypertension say they have a very big relief and they hear better after the treatment. the truth is that they had no problems with the ears, but they high blood pressure caused a loswer sensitivity to the sound and a decreased perception.
    – disonic symptoms like nausea, headaches, chest pains, breathlessness sometimes
the treatment should be started with no delay and the doctor’s instrucions must be followed.

Lots of times there are no symptoms. That is why high blood pressure is called "the silent killer." Some symptoms are fatigue, weakness and dizziness.

If you think you may have high blood pressure you should go to your local drug store and they usually have testing for free. It takes less than 2 minutes. Go maybe twice a week for a couple weeks and if it stays high then I would go to the doctor. I had to do that.

That’s the biggest problem with hyper tension it has no symptoms I know I have it. For years I had really low blood pressure so I wasn’t at all prepared to find out that my blood pressure had risen high enough for me to have to use medications. I had now Idea and since I’d had low blood pressure all of my life you would think that I’d gotten some sort of sign that would have let me know. NOPE until my doctor took my blood pressure did I find out.

Since my blood pressure was never very high to start with, and the headaches, blurry vision, and other things others have said are symptoms, were caused by medications and other health problems.

But boy, I sure know I have "low" blood pressure now on this medication!!

I am freezing to death most of the time.
