It all started about nine months ago, when my wife and I decided it would be a good idea to remodel our home. It took a lot of talking about because neither of us really wanted to take the project on as we both have active business lives. However, one Sunday afternoon, I took the bull by the horns and started to strip the paper off the walls and the ceiling in the kitchen. My wife soon joined in.

It took us a month to finish it, because we only had Saturday afternoons and Sunday, but we found that we enjoyed the physical work, we both have desk jobs, and we really enjoyed working and planning together. It was a new but pleasing experience for us.

So, on the day we finished, we prepared a special meal and laid the table properly. After the meal, we sat down to watch a film on TV. But neither of us had been able to do that for a month and we both felt restless. My wife said something like: ‘Wouldn’t it be nice to have another project to do?’ and I think we both had the same idea at the same time.

The spare bedroom! Well, our kids had families of their own now, so we essentially had three spare bedrooms. We decided to turn one of them into a home theater. Neither of us particularly liked watching TV, but we both liked films which are normally ruined by too much advertising.

We went up to the smallest room, but it was too small so, like Goldilocks we went to the next, but ended up in the largest room, so that we could entertain friends or family too. Neither of knew what to do next about the home movie centre, but we knew that we could clear the room out and measure it, which is what we did. All the furniture went into the garage until the charity shop could take it away and we went to the computer to get assistance.

There was heaps of advice on websites and in articles and we soon felt confident enough to take the venture on. We transferred the dimensions of the room in scale onto a sheet of paper and drew in where the screen would go and where we would be sitting. The distance left between us and the screen would be about 15 feet.

We had read that the optimum viewing distance is between three times and five times the diameter of the screen, so we could choose a screen between sixty inches and 36 inches. Being in our fifties, we though we would make it easier on our eyes and opted for a forty-eight inch plasma screen.

We ordered that from the Internet. We had also read that the Xbox was a good double as a DVD player and we knew that our grandson was always on about one, so that was next. We were a bit stuck with the speakers, but my brother could help me on that one. We had about a week before our equipment would arrive, so we determined to redecorate in the evenings.

Once complete, we installed all our equipment with my brother’s help and we were off. At first we used a couple of sun loungers as seating, but we fairly soon got two delightfully comfortable reclining chairs and two couches for visitors. We may upgrade those later and put in dimmable lighting too, but for now we are very pleased with our home movie system and so is our grandson.

When most people are looking for a sound system, they usually go directly to the speakers. This is not of necessity wrong, but you must not stop there. The speakers are an important part of a sound system, but they are not the be all and end all.

It also essential to consider the player and the amplifier, because any sound system is only as good as its weakest component. Another important topic is the placement of those speakers. It is just as important to position your speakers correctly as it is not to buy cheap speakers. There are also misconceptions about size. Bigger is not always better.

In the past, it was often the rule that bigger meant better, but now often the reverse is often the case. Technological advancement has been concentrated on producing smaller speakers, that will take up less room in our smaller houses and smaller cars. Therefore, the smaller speakers are often the most technologically advanced.

If you are opting for surround sound, which is the best obtainable today, then you will also have to think carefully about placement. That is the positioning of the speakers. In a typical 5.1 surround sound home theater, you will have six speakers: five ordinary speakers and one sub-woofer.

These speakers would be set out one to the far right of the screen and one to the far left of it and one underneath it. The other two speakers would be at the rear of the audience, but not so far apart as the front speakers. The sub-woofer can go in the centre at the front or the rear.

For smaller rooms, a 3.1 surround sound system might be adequate, that is you leave out the rear speakers. For a larger room, you may want either a 6.1 or 7.1 system. The 6.1 has the rear row of speakers matching the front row, while the 7.1 has an extra middle rear speaker.

It is better if you can buy all your speakers at the same time from the same manufacturer. Obviously, they all have to match each other and the amplifier. The output from the amplifier has to match the capabilities of the speakers or you risk blowing them. That is, sending them more power than they can cope with, which causes too much vibration and permanent damage to the speaker’s internal components. Everyone has heard blown speakers, they sound awful.

If you can not afford to get all your speakers at the same time, buy a famous brand and a late-ish model, so that you can get more of them when you can afford to. Do not go for end of line speakers, because they are discounted, unless you can buy all the speakers that you will ever need for your system.

Buy your speakers online, if that gets you the best deal, but you really ought to hear speakers like the ones you are buying in action, before you make up your mind. You could also take your Internet price to the local dealers and ask them to match it. They might, you never know and it will save you postage too.

With all the emergence of new hardcore and punk bands, Escape the Fate is among the top. Their popularity have just been steadily increasing with the release of their three popular albums. More and more fans have been discovering their unique and yet classic hardcore music. The band, just like with any other popular bands, in turn helped in the increased demand for rock band souvenirs or apparel, including for skeleton gloves.

Escape the Fate is often categorized as a post-hardcore band. What exactly is post-hardcore music? It is actually a deviation, although not too much, from the popular hardcore music genre. However it also got a mix of other music influences such as experimental rock and punk rock. To some people, they actually find it hard to further differentiate post-hardcore from these other influences.

In 2004, Escape the Fate was formed in Nevada composing of the these original members: Bryan Monte Money as their lead guitarist, Ronnie Radke on lead vocals, on rhythm guitar they had Omar Espinosa, Robert Ortiz in drums, and on base guitar was Max Green.

But just like with other famous bands, they also had their own share of problems. Foremost of which is the replacement and the leaving of some of their band members. However, these changes also did result to some favorable results.

One of the first major setbacks they experienced was the sentencing into prison by their lead vocalist, Ronnie Radke. The band later replaced him with Craig Mabbitt.

The next Escape the Fate member to leave was their keyboardist at that time, Carson Allen, who left to join On The Last Day, anothe rock band.

Omar Espinosa also left the band in 2007 due to unspecified personal reasons.

Just about any band would experience such drastic movement of band members, in and out. Throughout a band’s existence, such problems are often expected. But Escape the Fate was a different matter because the band was still fairly young when all these band member changes happened. One of the problems they encountered was drug abuse by a couple of their members. It was however fixed through a rehabilitation program they themselves initiated.

Still all of these problems did not hinder them from gaining such popularity. It was mainly due to the success of their three albums to date: This War is Ours, Dying is Your Latest Fashion, and There’s No Sympathy for the Dead.

As to their first album, the ‘This War is Ours’, the band members claimed that one of their tracks, “We Won’t Back Down” shows the world the kind of wild party animals that they are. Perhpas it just goes to show what a hard rocker’s life can truly be as often portrayed in their music videos.

A couple of years later, the album ‘Dying is Your Latest Fashion’ was released. Personally it was a breakthrough for the band because they were able to come up with that album although they were experiencing some problems of their own. One of which was the departure of their lead vocalist, Ronnie Radke.

With the band seemingly at their most stable form to date, they are now poised to conquer the whole of the punk rock and hardcore rock scene.

A home theater takes a sizable investment of money, thought and installation, particularly if you have a high quality home theater. Therefore, it is a shame that so may people just assemble all the pieces in a room without giving any thought to what else they should be doing to improve it. Unless you hire a professional consultant, you might not realize the full potential of your home cinema system. However, it is not necessary to hire an adviser, if you just pay attention to a few common mistakes made by a lot of home theater owners

The lighting in any cinema is very important, as I am sure you already know. Why is it then that many people do not treat it as important in their own home cinema? You never see external light – sun light – in a professional movie theater and you should not want any in yours either. Hang heavy curtains over every window in the room and let them extend beyond the window with a good border.

Heavy curtains will not only keep external light out, but they will also dampen street sounds, something else you never hear in a real movie theater. If you have neighbours close by, it will also help to preclude them from being bothered by your loud films or music.

Do not try to save money by buying poor quality speakers. Do not mix and try to match speakers either, unless you are sure you know what you are doing. If you need five speakers and a sub-woofer, but can only afford three and the sub-woofer, buy speakers from a well-known brand that you know you can get hold of again.

Do not buy end of line speakers, as you will find upgrading hard. The best approach for the novice is to get a 5.1 surround sound set of speakers. Then, if at some point in the future you want to upgrade, you can quite easily, either by buying more or exchanging the lot in one go. One thing is for certain, a lot of the magic of going to the theater these days lies in the surround sound and you need to reproduce it at home.

It is not rocket science to put a home theater together whether it comes in kit form or not. However, if you do not feel happy setting it up, you would be better off having it done for you. Obviously, it is up to you how you go about this, but you could ask a relative or friend or neighbour or hire someone from the shop where you bought it. My guess is though that any moderately competent eighteen year old has already seen one set up before and can do it for you.

Your movie theater, if it came in a kit, will or should have detailed instructions for you to follow. Please read the handbook before you start plugging things into each other. Read the handbook and inspect the parts until you are well acquainted with the installation process and the recommended positioning of the equipment.

Make sure that the voltage is adjusted appropriately before you plug it into the mains. Most equipment is made abroad for sale to many countries, so they usually have some sort of selector for the voltage. Get it wrong and you could blow a part of the equipment, in all probability the amplifier, the DVD player or the screen. that could mean replacement of the module or poor reproduction of sound or picture.

It is not hard to get the installation of your home theater right, but you do have to pay some attention to detail, if you want to get the best out of it.

There is something amazing about acoustic music. Whether you are a high school kid trying to woo some young ladies, or an old-timer needing some relaxation, acoustic songs seem to be some of the best to listen to and play. The genre has come a long way over the last little while, but what has made it such a big deal?

Some argue it’s the unique simplicity. For some hearing a simple piano or acoustic guitar and a vocalist is a great break from all of the distortion and synthesized mess that seems to come out some pop songs and heavy metal songs. Others argue it’s a culture thing. The mellow, independent culture has been enough to make the genre climb. Something many don’t think about is the actual content of the acoustic songs – the reason they are written.

But something that truly needs to be considered is what acoustic musicians write about. There seems to be a bit of a pattern that helps people relate to acoustic music more than other types of music. The way musicians can express their feelings or stories in good acoustic songs is truly amazing, and is not the traditional way musicians have done it in the past.

Good acoustic songs are often about expressions of love. If you ever want to really find the key to a woman’s heart, write a heart-felt song for her. Of course, its all about sincerity – never just write a song to write it. If you aren’t feeling it truly, then don’t try and squeeze something out, just for fun.

The song “Vegetable Car” by Joshua Radin is a great example of an acoustic song that is just telling a funny story. In the song, the writer sees a woman in a so called “vegetable car” who drives by everyday while he is outside. He notices her, her hair in a bun, her two door car, her glasses, etc. and talks of how he would just someday love to meet her. He even admits that him writing a song about her is a little strange considering the fact that he has never talked to her in his life. That woman is out there somewhere, and probably has no idea.

Of course, acoustic songs could never escape the popular subject of pitfalls of a breakup. Dashboard Confessional takes it to a whole new level though; truly expressing some of the feelings you can feel when you break up. One popular lyric is “…breathing is a foreign task, and thinking’s just too much to ask, and you’re measuring your minutes by a clock that’s blinking eights.” To any poor sap who just broke up with his girlfriend, all he may know is that “I’m really, really sad”, but Chris Carrabba goes into the exact detail and truly shows how it feels to breakup.

Another popular reason for writing acoustic songs refers to life realizations. Think of the ever popular “Good Riddance” by Greenday. It’s one thing to hear a motivational speech during a high school graduation, but it gets taken to a whole new level when the catchy riff along with the inspiring lyrics strike a chord with an audience. Realizing that this is the time of our life to take advantage of can have a deeper effect expressed in song rather than on paper.

Whatever the reason for acoustic songs, the subjects and intentions of the lyrics are unique. They carry a special place in the hearts of all acoustic music listeners. The subjects that acoustic artists choose to write about combined with the riffs they put the lyrics to are deep in meaning and help anyone listen relate in a very special way.

Music has a great influence, and discovering good acoustic songs will give you new perspective. For more information on easy acoustic songs, visit our site.

There are several video game systems on the market, but if you are looking for a game console that also can be utilized for home theater entertainment, then the right choice has to be the Xbox game console. Very often, it is the case that children will want to play games in the daytime on holidays and before bed during the week, whereas parents will want to watch films at night before going to bed. Therefore, the two age groups need not clash often with their use of the home theater console.

Therefore, if you can get a device that fulfills both the roles of playing games and playing films, you can save some money. The Xbox game console fits this role, because the Xbox is one of the new generation of video game boxes that can also play films on DVD or whatever disk format.

The Xbox is actually a very hi-tech piece of equipment, something that non-game players might not have realized. It fits easily into a home theater system because it has wide screen video capability, HDTV screen resolutions and Dolby Digital and DTS sound support, making it a perfect home theater set-up component.

The Xbox is also a good looking piece of equipment, which will match any existing black home theater equipment you may already have. It does not look like just a plastic toy. It was invented by Microsoft and has a powerful, stylish look. The Xbox’s case is black with an X on it and a green Xbox logo resembling a jewel.

The Xbox is essentially a cut-down computer as it has many parts of a personal computer like an Intel processor, NVidia graphic chips and an internal hard drive among others. PC’s are general purpose tools, whereas the Xbox is designed for playing DVD’s in more ways than one. In other words, it is a dedicated computer. It is dedicated to the task of playing DVD’s and it does it very well.

However, it also has four controller sockets in the front of the box for connections and it has an Ethernet socket for multi player games that allows other gamers on the Internet to take part in the game. The Xbox system includes as standard: the controllers with a 9 ft cable, a standard AV cable, and an AC power cord. It also comes with a DVD loading tray and a multi signal audio-video connector for easy connection to televisions and other home theater systems.

The Xbox will change the way you think about games and how you play them, because it is so committed to making interactive games a reality and as exciting as possible. Games are written especially for it such as the Dead or Alive series and the Halo series too.

However, their are sports games to be had too such as football and Formula 1 motor car racing. The graphics, sound and overall reality are remarkable. Finally, for parents who are worried about what their kids are watching, playing or doing, there are parental controls built into the Xbox.

Home theaters are very popular in the West now for many reasons, but partly due to the recession. However, I predict that after the downturn is over, home theaters will take off like a rocket. In my opinion, this is because, the recession has forced people to examine their spending, which normally means cutting back. Going out, eating out and movies are all in the front line of these cuts. However, the slump is upsetting and people have to get some enjoyment from somewhere.

In the medium to long term, it is cheaper to build a home theater for a family than take them to a proper movie theater every week. Taking a family of four to the movies costs $50-$100, whereas a modest home theater might cost $1,000. It does not take long to recoup those costs. And it saves you the hassle of travelling there and back, the noise and mobile phones during the film and high prices for candy and snacks.

OK, maybe people at the moment are buying cheap packages of home theaters, but one of the first things they will change when they get a bit of money again will be the speakers, I bet. Evidently, you need a good quality, large screen, but after that, it is the sound and the bulwark to good sound is normally poor speakers.

The most important consideration in the design of your home theater is the dimensions of your room. If the room is small, you will not require so many speakers. Perhaps three speakers will be enough, if the room is small. However, if you only need three speakers and a sub-woofer, get good ones.

If you have a bigger room however, the basic three home theater speakers may not be enough. You may need to put up to six speakers and a sub-woofer around the room. The position of these speakers is up to you and can depend on the shape or and size of the room anyway, but typical layouts are:

3.1 system: one speaker to the left of the screen, one to the right and one underneath it. You can put the sub-woofer on top of the central speaker or at the back of the room. Try it and see.

5.1 system: as 3.1, but with two speakers at the back of the room too.

6.1 system: as 5.1, but with another speaker between the rear speakers, as in the front.

7.1 system: as 6.1, but with two speakers central rear, slightly away from each other. You can move the existing rear speakers around to the sides too.

This set-up requires a lot of wires as you can envisage. Now, you could staple the wires to the skirting board, but you should only do that after you are dead sure that you have the speakers in the right positions. Or you could hang the speakers on the walls. However, although that sounds good for music, it does not always sound all right for a movie.

The best choice is wireless speakers. Wireless speakers can be moved around to suit the number of people watching the movie or moved out for cleaning or redecorating purposes. You do not want to bash your nice, new, expensive speakers with the vacuum cleaner, do you?

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with wireless home theater systems. If you are interested in a Home Movie Theatre, please click through to our site now.

Picture yourself listening to your favorite music or maybe watching your that exciting new action movie in your den or living room.

If you do not have the right equipment you may hear distortion or rattling in your speakers. When you come home from work or have had a long day dealing with the kids the last thing that you want to do is hear more noise or deal with another frustration.

When you go about setting up an in house theater system you may want to think about investing in tower home theater speakers. We are going to discuss two things in this article. I believe they will give you a reason to take a second look at tower home theater speakers.

*Their Style

While style may not be a huge deal for many people when they are considering their next speaker purchase but this can be quite a big deal for some. Think of the husband that wants a great entertainment experience and wants to add some new speakers to the mix but his wife does not want her living room to be clustered and messy. Some speakers are just too bulky and unattractive. Tower home theater speakers are a great way to compromise because they are not bulky and they will look nice too.

*The Sound

The tower home theater speakers will allow you to get a great sound out of the attractive speaker. If you want proper lower sounds I would suggest that you add a subwoofer along with your tower speakers. This will help you to get a full experience of the low sounds. Other than that little note the sound get great reviews.

Now you have it – two things that make tower home theater speakers a good idea for your den or living room. You are the only one who knows what you need however,so now it’s time to take a look at some speakers.

Want to find out more about tower home theater speakers, then visit Jessica Lauren’s site on how to choose the best cheap speakers for your needs.
