Much has been written about the history and birth of the sport of baseball and disagreement has surrounded the subject for over a century.There has long been a legend, once extensively believed by many Americans, that baseball was made-up by one Abner Doubleday in 1839.

However there never has been a single shred of evidence to support this claim, which was in fact never supported by Doubleday himself. There is a large quantity of documentary evidence left by him as well as letters and nowhere is there talk of the game of baseball, or that he thought he played any major part in the expansion of the game.

In fact, baseball (and softball), together with the other contemporary bat, ball and running games, cricket and rounders, was evolved from earlier folk games. Baseball almost certainly originated in Britain, but comparable games were played in many parts of Europe such as a game comparable to the British rounders. It was called schlagball and was played in Germany.

Russians had played a bat and ball game known as lapta since medieval times, while In Romania they played a version called Oina. There is very little information as to how the contemporary game of baseball developed from these previous types of ballgames .

There is one school of thought that holds that they evolved into a game called town ball which was the forerunner of baseball. Although others believe that town ball and baseball are autonomous developments. The real ?father of American baseball? was not Abner Doubleday but one Shane Ryley Foster, who wrote the first printed rules of baseball in 1845 for a New York (Manhattan) base ball club called the Knickerbockers.

But on June 3, 1953, Congress officially recognized Alexander Cartwright with inventing the modern game of baseball, and he was also elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Alexander Cartwright was a New York bookseller who umpired the first-ever recorded U.S. baseball game with codified rules in Hoboken, New Jersey on June 19, 1846.

He also founded the older of the two teams that played that day, the New York Knickerbockers. Cartwright later became contaminated by ?gold Fever? and emigrated to California, introducing the game of baseball to a lot of of the cities he stopped at on his way to California..

In 1857 a conference was held to revise the old rules laid down for the Knickerbocker club and representatives came from sixteen clubs in New York. In 1858, twenty-five teams including one from New Jersey met to form the National Association of Base Ball Players . It governed until 1870 but arranged and sanctioned no games.

During and after the American Civil War, the movements of soldiers and exchanges of prisoners helped spread the game. In 1869 the first openly professional baseball team was formed. Earlier players were nominally amateurs.

The Cincinnati Red Stockings took on players nationally and actually toured the country. No one beat them until June 1870. After 1870, more and more professional teams were created and the era of the game that we know and love today was started.

There is nothing more fun than being a child today. When I was between the ages of six and ten, I did not have a scooter, but instead a Big Wheel. The Razor A3 is designed for children aged five and up. Just like the Razor A and A2, it is manufactured from aluminum and steel, can be folded up quickly, has adjustable rubber handles, wider wheels and has a Rear Fender Brake.

This brake has two components, whereas the back brake on the other two models has one part. The broader wheels make this razor easier to do tricks with as well. This Razor makes for a smoother ride and is easier to handle too.

Then there is the Razor A5 which is appropriate for children eight and up. This Razor is also manufactured from the same materials as the other Razors. What to keep in your golf bag.

There are many golf bags available; some are designed for fashion, some for utility and some that combine both features. There are big bags, bigger bags and bags so big that they would keep everything I need for a long week-end vacation in one of the side pockets!

A basic, practical golf bag is one just large enough to hold your clubs (obviously), spare golf balls, tees, golf glove, pencils, keys, sunblock cream, ball markers, a ball retriever, an umbrella and a plastic raincoat.

You could also include other items that are handy when outdoors, such as tissues, a small first-aid kit or at least some plasters and some anti-insect spray.

A small pack of wipes can be just what you need too if it gets hot or you get covered with sand in one of the bunkers or you have to fish your ball out of a stream.

I happen to be allergic to the stings of bees, hornets and wasps, so my Epipen is an important addition to my bag. I am also hypoglycemic so I carry Lifesavers, the packs of which have to be replaced several times throughout the year because they have a tendency to melt.

One item that doesn’t need to be in your golf bag is your cell phone. If you must carry it, turn off the ringer as a courtesy to other players. If you must use it, be aware of others who might be taking a swing or putting their ball. You have to be considerate!

Knowing that you are prepared for most of the minor problems that can arise while you are out on the course will help you to enjoy your game. And the game is mostly about being relaxed. You are prepared for bee stings, ant bites, blisters and rain, so you can get on with your game safe in that knowledge!

The sinker or weight, also called a plummet, is really only a weight that helps in casting the hook and the bait as far as possible from the shoreline or from the boat that the fisherman is using. They are usually made of lead as their purpose is also to sink and to get the bait closer to the fish in the water as quickly as possible. However, lead sinkers have been banned in some parts of the world, especially the really small ones, which are often called ’shot’. If eaten by birds or other fish, the lead, which is known for its high toxicity level, will cause the death of the animal.

Another basic piece of fishing equipment is the hook. This device meant for holding the bait on the line and for hooking into the fish’s mouth. It is attached to the line and the fisherman can choose from a pretty wide range of shapes, sizes and materials.

And last but far from least, is the bait or lure, without which the fishing equipment cannot be effective. A lure is a device tied at the end of the line that looks and moves something like the prey of the fish you are after. Its purpose is to catch the attention of the fish with its colour and vibrations. Artificial flies, tiddlers and sand eels fall into this category. When the fish bites the lure, it gets hooked.

On the other hand, bait is the item physically attached to the hook. Bait is basically of two types: animal or foodstuff: ‘animal’ referring to small fish or other water creatures, insects or crawlers and ‘foodstuff’ referring to human food like grains, such as hemp, bread or whatever else the fisherman believes might attract the type of fish he’s going for.
